The fishermen´s association
The women shellfish gatherer and net-makers of Cambados are organised in an Association that belongs to the Fishermen's and Fisherwomen's Association San Antonio. The Fishermen's and Fisherwomen's Association is an organisation that consists of all men and women Sea workers (crew members, shipowners, shellfish gatherers…), who are represented at the General Meeting.
The Fishermen's and Fisherwomen's Association carries out management functions and representation before the public administration and, until the Social Security was created, it used to carry out medical, accident and pension assistance functions through the mutual insurance companies.
Nowadays, the Fishermen's and Fisherwomen's Association consists of 900 members.
